What is Single Elimination?
Single Elimination is just as it sounds. If you lose once, you’re out. Don’t forget to bring your A game, because you’re gonna need it!
Where will the tournaments be located? How can I sign up?
Tournaments will be located on the 1st floor of the Cradle of Aviation in the Tournament Area (right hand side when you walk in the front entrance of the Cradle of Aviation)
Due to the entrant caps introduced this year and to promote fairness, we will not have online preregistration. All tournaments will have on-site registration only and will operate on a first come, first serve basis. You may only register for games on the day they are happening.
Registration for each tournament will be open until 20 minutes before a tournament starts, or until a tournament has reached its entrant capacity
Example: If a tournament starts at 2:00pm, registration for that tournament will close at 1:40pm.
As of 2019, we will now be enforcing entrant caps on each tournament game to reduce the overcrowding issue we’ve experienced in the past. Please find the cap per game in the rules below
Does it cost anything to enter a tournament?
Grand question! Besides the general admission, the majority of our tournaments are free to enter. The exceptions to this rule are the games below:
Super Smash Bros Melee – $10 Entry
Mario Kart 64 – $5 Entry
Def Jam: Fight For New York – $5 Entry
Street Fighter Alpha 2 – $5 Entry
If this is a tournament there must be prizes, right?
What would a tournament be without prizes? A lot of our prizes for this year are being provided by many of our wonderful vendors and sponsors. You’ll see medals, trinkets and doodads, and for paid entry games- the almighty dollar!
Paid entry games will have a cash payout in the following structure:
1st place: 70% of entry fees
2nd place: 20% of entry fees
3rd place: 10% of entry fees
Can I bring my own controller?
Absolutely! You are encouraged you bring your own controller(s) for whatever game(s) you plan to enter, but if you don’t you’ll be provided with one. We cannot guarantee the quality of the provided controller, so please keep that in mind.
Arcade Sticks are allowed.
Macro/Auto/Turbo functionalities are not allowed.
Want to play Soul Calibur with a DDR Pad? We won’t stop you!
Modern Consoles – Wireless Controllers: If you are using a wireless controller, it is your responsibility to desync your controller from the console after your matches are over. If your controller causes a match to be interrupted, you may be subject to disqualification.
If you don’t know how to desync your wireless controller, a bracket runner or TO will be able to assist you
What is Single Elimination?
Single Elimination is just as it sounds. If you lose once, you’re out. Don’t forget to bring your A game, because you’re gonna need it!
What is Double Elimination?
Double Elimination simply means that you must lose twice in order to be eliminated from the tournament. Everyone starts in the Winners bracket and when they lose a match, they are sent to the Losers bracket. If you lose a match while in the Losers bracket you are eliminated.
Do note that in double elimination format, during the last match of the tournament (Grand Finals) the player coming from the Losers bracket must beat the person the Winners bracket twice, due to the fact they have yet to lose.
Still don’t understand? One of our bracket runners or tournament organizers will be happy to explain it to you day of if need be.
I have to go somewhere but the tournament has already started! What should I do?
If the tournament your in has already started, inform the person running your bracket that you are leaving momentarily. We will push off your match as long as possible, but if your match is called and you are not present, you will be given a loss.
I just won my match! What do I do next?
Congratulations on your win! After your match, please report your results to your assigned bracket runner. It is always the responsibility of the winner of the match to report the results to the bracket runner.

Game Settings: 5 minute periods, penalties on, no offsides, no line changes, manual goalie
Selecting Teams: A coin flip will take place. The winner of the coin flip will choose two different teams that will play. The loser of the coin flip picks their team from the two chosen and will play as the Home team. All Star teams are ineligible.
The winner of the coin flip cannot choose the same team matchup for the rest of the tournament regardless of whom they are playing. (The other player could still select that matchup for a future game.)
If the same two players meet later in the tournament, then no coin flip would take place. The player who won the previous coin flip will now choose the teams. If they meet for a third time, then they reverse ‘coin flip results’ again, and so on.
System malfunction/OT: The game will restart with the score of the game and play the number of periods that were remaining (a partial period would count as a full period). If a game is still tied after overtime is completed, then the game will be reset, and play will continue until someone scores. (player injuries, penalties won’t carry over from the previous game).
Editing lines: Line-up changes will be allowed at the beginning of the game, when there is an injury to a player, during intermissions and when a time out is called (by either team). If you would like to make a change at intermission, please notify your opponent that you wish to do, so they can allow you the time before the start of the next period.
6 goal mercy rule: Once a player has a 6 goal lead, at any point, the game is considered finished.
Referee: A ‘referee’ will be designated to resolve any disputes not covered under the rules.
TOURNAMENT FORMAT
Based on 32 entries (format may change slightly depending on sign-ups/capacity): 3 game round robin from a random selection group of 4 people. You play each person in your group once. Top 2 in each group advance to a 16 team single-elimination bracket. Seeding will be based on round robin results. Wins followed by goal differential, followed by goals scored will be the tiebreakers.
Elimination bracket will be a best 2 out of 3 to advance. A new team selection will take place each game.
